Il Polpo Dorato – The Golden Octopus
This is, obviously, an octopus I made with pyrite crystals on pink granite pebbles, rounded by the action of the sea and shells; the two black fluorescents A and 30 are a mixture of iron ore powder with two-component epoxy glue.
The octopus head is a natural agglomeration of pyrite powder.
All the elements were collected by me at Elba Island, in particular I extracted the pyrite crystals from an open vein, while the pyrite dust agglomeration and the pebble, along the banks of two different beaches.
I’ve made that for the 30 years B-day of a friend of mine, “A” is her’s first name letter.
The total time of work is about eight hours, excluding the collecting times.
